Description

In this lesson, students speak and practice the use of present simple in the general truths and facts through questions about natural places using adjectives. The lesson starts with a brief video about a country . Then I use 4 pictures to continue reinforcing the topic as well as a quiz about what the students guess to know about the country. I present the useful language with 2 questions and work the intonation for yes/no and Wh questions. Finally, they create their own questions to ask other students.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Present Simple and Adjectives. in the context of Students speak about natural places asking and answering questions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of places lexis in the context of nature as such mountain, volcano, etc.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T shows Ss a short video about Peru. - T shows pictures of some natural places in that country trying to introduce the topic. - T explains the first activity where Ss should choose the answers that they guess.Ss have 2 minutes to finish it.

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

-T gives Ss the answers to the quiz using questions and answers adding more information. Ss use new vocabulary about natural places (volcano, river,mountain,etc) and adjectives. - Two Ss participate in this part, student one asks questions and the other response to them.

Useful language (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- T explains about present simple tense using general facts through 2 questions and their answers. - T explains the intonation of the yes-no and Wh questions then Ss repeat them for pronunciation.

Productive Task (10 minutes) • To provide Ss the way of practice all they have learned.

- T shows Ss some questions with their respective answers using vocabulary, TL, and the form of the questions that they have to present at the end of the activity. - T gives them a list of natural places (vocabulary) and adjectives that they should use to create their own questions. -SS have 7 minutes to complete the activity.

Feedback (5 minutes) • To summarize mistakes made by students during the productive Task.

- T writes 2 mistakes that were found during the presentation of the final task. - T explains and gives more examples if it is necessary.
