Description

in this lesson, students will learn predictions and how to make them in different ways through a context which is text based approach. Students start with an activity as a lead in then ss will be exposed to PTV. Then they read the text quickly to skim and highlight the six predictions. then they have a controlled and freer practice.

Procedure

Lead in (5-6 minutes) • to activate the schemata of the students and link this activity with the idea of the lesson.

I bring pictures of flying cars to ss. I ask them 'What is this?'' " Do you think it will be in the future? I elicit the information from students. I ask them another question if they predicted something in the past and it happened in real when they grew up .

PTV • To provide students with the blocking words that may hinder their understanding

1. commercials. I bring a picture of a television or a radio advertisements. and ask students about attractive commercials they like 2. breed. I bring a picture of a group of animals that have the same species. and ask students what we call each species of animals.

Reading for specific information • To scan the passage quickly and and highlight the 6 sentences of prediction

1. I ask students to read the passage quickly and highlight the predictions individually then in pairs , then check the key answers. 2. I ask them ICQs such as "Are you reading fast or slow? "Are you reading every single word?"

Language clarifiction (12-14 minutes) • to illustrate the MPF

1. I elicit the different ways of making predictions 2. I show the difference between them 3. I pronounce it then I elicit the form 4. I write the form on the board.

controlled practice (4-6 minutes) • to check students understanding and check the accuracy of students. not following

1.I give students 3 minutes to choose the correct answer from the box individually. 2. They check their answers in pairs 3. they check their answers through the key answer.

Freer practice (5-7 minutes) • to check the fluency of students and their understanding of the whole lesson

1. I let students write ten predictions of your own about famous people or sports events. 2. I divide students into groups and let them speak in groups. 3. I give them the content and languge feedback
