Description

In this lesson, students will learn how to write a postcard.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce and provide practice of writing a postcard (20-30 words)

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a postcard.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T. spends time building rapport by asking how they are and they did. T. shares the link to Google sites and asks ss. to go there and focus on the first part. T. asks ss. to look at the pictures and work on the two questions. Ss. share their answers to the whole class. T. asks ss. to read the objective.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T. asks ss. to click on a button and go to Google Jamboard. Ss. have to work on breakout rooms and complete the activity. T. checks comprehension using ICQs. Are you working alone or in pairs? In pairs. T. monitors their work. Ss. share their answers to the class. T. uses CCQs and provides more examples.

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T. asks ss. to open Google sites again and go to the second part. Ss. have to identify if the piece of writing is formal or informal. T. explains the next activity which is identifying the correct use of prepositions of place. Ss. have to read the sentences and complete with in, on or at. Ss. have to complete it in breakout room. T. uses ICQs. Do you have to write or choose your answer? Choose your answer. Ss. share their answers to the whole class.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T. asks ss. to read the instructions and uses ICQs to check understanding. Ss. have to write their own postcard using prepositions of place.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T. asks ss. to go to the last past and focuses on the the checklist. T. asks ss. to read the checklist and explains the task. T. uses ICQs for understanding. Do you have to complete about your or your partner? Your partner. Ss. work on breakout rooms. T. monitors their work and takes notes on some important things to share it later. Ss. share their answers to the class. T. provides DEC.
