Description

in this lesson, student will learn the vocabularies about food and drink and also will learn how to use present simple( negative and positive) for the appropriate pronouns ( I, You, They, We) through the listening part.

Main Aims

  • To provide reading practice using a text about Importance of breakfast in the context of food and drink
  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about someone's favorite meal in the context of food and drink

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, I will ask my student if breakfast is an important meal or not and we will have a discussion about what we have for breakfast. After that, I will write the name of foods and drinks and ask him/her if they seem familiar or not in order to work on the vocabularies of food and drinks. I also ask him/her to re-order the words and match them to photos. I also play the audio file to check the pronunciation and repetition.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage, I will ask my student to read the text quickly and complete the comments. then I'll play the audio file. after that, we will talk about what the text was about. then I ask to read the text in detail to tell me who thinks breakfast is important and who thinks is not.

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, I will play the audio file of Anna's favorite meal. I ask him/her about the audio file and then I will play it again to complete the chart and check it together. I will also write a sentence from the audio file to start teaching grammar.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage, I will write the simple present sentence with have and I tell how we can make a simple present sentence and when we use the simple present. I will write the positive and negative forms of it. I also ask my student to make his/her own sentence and change it to the negative form.

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage, I will ask my student to do part 3a and then check it together. then go through page 100 to do part a and b then check together.

Free Practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage, I will ask my student about his/her favorite meal of the day, then he/she should complete part 6a and then say his/her sentence about himself/herself. I will also play the audio for pronunciation. then, we will work on a comment post on page 86 (writing).
