Description

In this lesson students will learn about drinks and ways of servicing on a flight. They will learn about different drink types that are offered on a plane. The 'English for Cabin Crew by OUP, pages 29-30

Materials

Abc Drinks PPT

Main Aims

  • To provide the basic vocabulary knowledge necessary for drinks service
  • To provide the most common ways of servicing

Subsidiary Aims

  • To help students differentiate between different drink and alcohol types

Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will answer 2 questions on the Wooclap-Brainstorming website: 1.What was on the menu on the last flight you had? 2. What do they generally serve or sell on flights?

Warm Up(Announcement) (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will listen to an announcement and answer questions in exercises 1 &2 accordingly.

Vocabulary Presentation (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with different drink and serving types necessary for Drinks service

I will tell students to look at question 3 in Ex.2 and think of some other examples for alcohol / cocktails. Then students will group the drinks in the book according to the different categories in the chart. We will look at any -that they didn't understand

Vocabulary Practice (8-10 minutes) • To check students' comprehension of the vocabulary learnt

I will show student pictures of drinks / serving types and they will write in the chatbox what it is.

Production(Conversation) (10-10 minutes) • To have students' practice the target language

Students will answer the following questions in their groups: 1. What drink do you like the most? 2. Do you know how to make any cocktails? 3. Which drinks are more popular in Turkey? Which are not? Why? 4. Which way of serving do you prefer for hot / cold drinks? They will report what their friends said when they come back
