Description

In this lesson, Ss learn the form of the verb "to be" in the past and some adjectives.T starts the class with a photo where Ss says their guesses about it.Ss read a text about the third generation of firefighters in a family.Ss use the subskills for reading.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about Third Generation in the context of A story of a family.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of adjetives in the context of Family story

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (0-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T show Ss a picture with the title of the reading. - T ask Ss a question and Ss choose the alternative that they guess.

Pre-Reading (0-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- T explain the 1st activity.(1 minute) -Ss do the activity where they have to connect each word with its antonym.(3 minutes)

While-Reading #1for gist (0-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist information reading task.

- T show Ss a text about a story of a family with three generation of firefighters. - T ask Ss about a question How is the text about? for general idea of the text.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (0-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks.

-T explains activity number 2. -T sends the link to Ss. - Ss do the activity where they have to choose the correct answer to 6 questions. -T and Ss check the answers together.

Language Preparation(MFP) • To clarify the meaning , form and pronuntiation of the TL.

- T gives some examples where the verb to be is in past simple.Through 2 questions Ss know that these actions are in the past in a situation or state. - T explain positive, negative, and question form of verb to be in the past. - T sends a link where Ss do an activity about the form.

Final Task (12 minutes) • To provide Ss put all the information received to an builder activity.

-T explains the last activity. -Ss create a conversation about What was the last book/movie that student read/saw? -Ss have 6 minutes to make and practice the conversation with her or his pattern. -A couple of students participate in class showing their creations to others.

Feedback • To summarize mistakes made by students during the lesson.

-T gets 2 mistakes from students during the class. -T corrects these mistakes explaining to Ss about the correct form of the grammar.
