Students will talk and discuss movies.

Materials

Main Aims

  • Students will practice fluency and interaction by having a discussion about movies.

Subsidiary Aims

  • The students will learn useful language for expressing their opinions in the context of a discussion.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will ask the students about their favourite movies and film genres

Exposure (9-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

A video of The Take will be played, about the story of the character Wednesday, as an example of how sentences regarding films can be constructed.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The students will be given copies that contain useful language for debates.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The students will be given a prompt and they will have a discussion. The students can discuss opposite opinions, things they agree on or their favourite films, the aim is for them to interact.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The teacher will ask the students what they learnt about their classmates tastes and opinions, also, the teacher will give each student feedback and the more common errors will be mentioned and corrected to the group.
