Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Introduce the topic by asking the students the following questions: - Do you know someone who has a business? what kind? - Would you like to start a business?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1. Tell the students they will listen to an audio about someone wanting to start a business. 2. Show the questions to be answered and ask them if they have any questions about the questions. 3. Play the audio have the students discuss the answers in an open class feedback 4. Show the answer to the questions.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. Present the slides and say the name of the topic. 2. Read/say the first one twice. Encourage students to say it aswell. 3. Say functions of the expression. (They are all phrasal verbs) 4. Explain the meaning. 5. Say one or two examples. 6. Repeat steps 2-5 until all words are covered. 7. Show the slide with the examples. 8. Ask some students to say some examples.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1. Show the activity to students and explain what they have to do. (Choose the best option to complete the question) 2 Ask them if they have any questions. 3. Do the first one together. 4. Send the link for them to complete on google forms. Tell them not to submit. 5. Have the students check the answers in pairs or groups of three using BORs. 6. Show the answers to the students and ask them if the have any questions about the answers.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. Tell the students they will dicuss the questions from the previous example with a differente partner un BORs. 2. Conduct feedback. 3. Delayed Error Correction.
