Description

In this lesson, the students will learn about the quantifiers through “Present, Practice and Produce” based method " as well as the "guided discovery method" in the context of shopping. This id followed by a conterolled activity (3p89). Then, there a semi-controlled speaking activity (1-4 p 89).

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in the form of a proposal in to the locoal council in the context of shopping

Procedure

Warmer (5-7 minutes) • To smoothly link the lesson with previous one and engage the students. To pre-teach the anticipated vocabulary.

* In order to engage the students, keep their interest in the topic I ask them two personalized questions about shopping, providing an example by answer those questions. Then, the students will tell a Partner or more in a WC interaction. The questions: - Where do you often go shopping? why? - What do you spend most of your money on and why? * In order to make the text more accessible to the students; I hand them with an activity where individually they're asked to match (anticipated) words with the appropriate definition.They peer-check. Then, I provide them with the answer key sheet. - Drill the students for some words and provide them their function.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-In pairs, the students are asked to do an activity where they will complete the sentences by adding a missing wordto each of them (1 p88). - The students access to the answer in the key answer sheet.

Highlighting and clarification (7-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- While the students are doing the activity; on the WB I draw different quantities .On the right of the board,I write a quantifier then point at one of the items and ask the students to make a "true" and " correcte" sentence about the item. I'll write the sentence that a student may give, then ask the rest of the class if it's true and correct and elicite the correct version from them. - I repeat the same procedure of all the target language I have to teach.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-On the hand out provided , the students are presented with target language within examples from the previous activity, then are asked to complete the rule, by filling the gaps with the correct missing words. - Students check their answers in group. Then, tho they can access and check their answers from the key answer key sheet provided.

Controlled Practice. (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice.

-Individually, the students are asked to use the target language to complete the sentences so that they are true for their town. (3p89). - Students check in pairs, then, they check their answer from the key answer sheet. Discuss with the students if there are any misunderstanding of the concept of the target langauge.

Speaking Practice for (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with a speaking practice for flueny.

- The class is divided into three groups. Each group will represent a group-age association and are asked to prapare a proposal for the new shopping area in their town covering specific points suiting the needs of each age-group. Each group will choose a student to read their propasal. - Three students from the three groups are going to join the two other groups. ( every group is represented in the three groups) and make one final proposal for the shopping centre that meets the needs of all the age-groups represented. -Finally, a student from each group will present their proposal.
