Beginner, A1 level


In this lesson, I will introduce the present simple tense(negative) first with listening activities in the context of technology. I will set the context and after a few activites I will clarify the language. Ss will be given some controlled activities to practice the form of the TL. Then they will be given some semi-controlled activities to practice the TL.

Main Aims

  • To provide To introduce vocabulary about technological tools, and grammar about the negative form of present simple tense in the context of technology.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking and listening about the TL.


Warm Up (2-3 minutes) • To draw Sts' attention, to set the context.

I will talk about some of my personal possessions and then write the word 'technology' on the board to start a kind of brainstorming among the students and elicit the examples from them.

Pre-Listening (3-4 minutes) • To prepare Sts for the listening part

I will distribute pictures of technological tools to students, and ask them in groups of 4 or 5 to mach the pics with the name of the item. after they finish I will do a short WC FB.

Test (3-4 minutes) • Introducing vocabulary

I will stick the flash cards of names of the technological items on the board, and ask some CCQs and I will as them ' Do you have it at work/ school/ or at home ?' to discuss in pairs. after that there will be a WC feedback.

While-Listening (3-4 minutes) • To improve Sts' receptive skills in listening

Sts will listen 3 conversations and answer the True False questions. There will be a peer-check after they finish. Then I will elicit the answers and ask clarification for their answers.

Post - Listening (2-3 minutes) • To introduce the TL

I will stick the sentences on the board and clarify the TL of present simple tense, negative form. I will ask some CCQs.

Grammar (4-5 minutes) • To introduce the TL

I will write the sentences from the listening, and I will clarify the TL by CCQs, highlighting the form and drilling the pronunciation.

Controlled Written Practice (2-4 minutes) • To make sts practice the TL, and form

I will distribute Sts a gap filling activity. They will work as individuals and then do peer check. After that, there will a FB.

Controlled Written Practice (4-5 minutes) • To make sts practice the TL

I will distribute a number of sentences about the Teacher to discuss and to change the ones that are not true for the teacher. After that I will ask them to re-write the sentences so they are right for them. And then I will ask them to do peer - correction.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To make sts practice the TL

I will distribute Ss a technology survey to tick for themselves first. and then to talk with all of the other students in the class.

Feedback (2-3 minutes) • To give a feedback to Ss, and correct their errors on TL

I will write some sentences on the board, and correct the wrong ones by eliciting the answer from them.
