Description

Students will learn names of different body parts, how to tell the doctor what hurts.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of body parts in the context of going to the doctor

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of going to the doctor

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students how are they.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

New vocabulary: doctor, arm, leg, head, stomach, ear (nouns) to hurt (verb) my, (adj.) What's wrong?

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. Board and drill new vocabulary. (Hold up picture or point to body part, slowly board the word, grouping voc. in parts of speech) 2. Repeat each word 7 times, chorally and individually.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1. CCQ: arm?... 2. Hold up picture or point, elicit word from students.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice
