Description

In this lesson, student will know some verbs phrases.They will know their meaning and how we pronounce them. They are going to apply them in the speaking task at the end.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of vocabulary in the context of celebrations and parties

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of planning a party

Procedure

Lead-in (7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show 2 pictures and ask students what do you think these pictures are about? after elicit their ideas Ask them to work in pairs to discuss what kind of preparation do we do before these festivals or celebrations ? and let them talk about theses ideas (decorations - clothes - food) open class feedback

Test #1 (8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

show to the student the handout and ask them to match the verb with the phrases individually. Then ask them to check their answers in pairs

Teach (15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

show to the students the pictures and elicit from them the meaning then ask them CCQs. After that drill the phrases in sentences and finally write them down. for example :"decorate the house " show to them a picture and ask the "what are they doing?" after elicitation ask them CCQs "Does it become more attractive? yes "Do we add things to the table?"yes Then drill it "they decorate the table" and highlight the stress. finally write it down

Test #2 (5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ask students to complete the sentences individually then check their answers with their partners.

Free practice (10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Before starting the freer practise I will write down a sentence on a board "Tomorrow I have a wedding party ,so I'm going to dress up in party clothes" then elicit from them the meaning by ask a question "Is it in past or future? " future Is it an arrangement ?yes after that elicit the form. Show to them two parties and ask them to work individually to choose which party they will arrange and give them the aspects that they will talk about it for example (the place - decorations etc..
