Description

In this lesson, student learn how to write reviews through the writing framework. The lesson starts with discussion about their favourite movie and why. This is followed by reading for gist where students will read and the the questions in ex2. Finally there is some writing through reviews then they will check for eachother.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a review in the context of books and movies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about consumer reviews in the context of books , CDs , books and computer games

Procedure

Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show the students some pictures about some movies and ask them what do you think about these posters? is it intersted or bored? Now I want you to discuss in pairs about your favourite movie and why do you like it? for 3 mins.Then I will ask them whats your partner favourite movie and why and you agree or disagree with her?

reading for gist (6-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

I will tell them now you will read some of reviews about audionce for alot of things and I want you to read fast and answer the questions on ex 2 individually and give rating for each review. Then check your answers and I will ask them some questions why do you give this rating and your partner is agree or disagree with this?

genre analysis (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I want you to read again but now get out the words that refer something postivie and something negative and write them in the table. Then I will tell them to come to the board and each one will write one postive and one negative. Then I will tell them to read it and see if you agree or disagree and why.

pre-teach (5-7 minutes) • To provide ss practice using the TL.

i will pre teach them the points that i want them to use while they are writing about it. i will make them as amtch excercise individually then i will tell them to check in pairs. and i will ask them some CCQs like -

Writing task (7-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask them to think about two movies one movie you like and one movie you don't like you have 2 mins for this task. Then I will tell them to write down some notes according to these points ( name , plot , acting and ending) about the two movies for 4 mins. Then I will tell them to start to write the two paraghraghs according to these points and using the negative and the positive phrases.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will ask each student to switch the paraghraghs with your partner and i want them to correct it according to these points that I mentioned before. then go the board and stick them then I want you now to take w round as a critic and if you know the movie tell me if you agree or disagree to this review and why.
