Description

In this lesson, students learn about writing a postcard or letter in the context of reading about holidays. The lesson starts with a discussion asking the students to talk about their last holiday. This is followed by pre-tech vocabulary in the context of displaying some pictures and start eliciting from students the answers.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Show the students pictures ask them questions such as, Do you like holidays? Do you prefer summer or winter holidays? Where do usually go on holiday? - Ask students to work individually the share their answers in pairs to talk about their last holiday,

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

- Display for the students some pictures for pre-tech vocabulary and ask them to consider its meaning on their own. - Divide the students into groups and let them discuss the meaning of the vocabulary together. -Show the meaning.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will use the board to elicit the useful language and ensure that the students are aware of the type of the text, context, target reader. -Review present simple, present continues and past simple I will ask the students to highlight the verbs in the letter and then elicit from them language form.

Writing task • to practice writing skills

- Draw their attention for some tips while writing their letter such as punctuation, contraction et… - Ask the student to write a post card imagining themselves on holiday in another city or town I will give each student a closed envelope to put their post card in it and give students 15 minutes to think and write and then exchange their postcards in pairs.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

While monitoring the students I will check some mistakes and write them on the board and start eliciting from them the correct answer "Error correction"
