Description

In this lesson, students learn about making predictions through gudied discovery based on reading text about future society. the lesson starts with a discussion about future society. This is followed by reading where students read and underline 6 predictions. Finally, there is some controlled practice and free practice via speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about future society in the context of predictions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of predictions in the context of future society. And put my language in my consideration.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start by some pictures about the future society and i will ask them some questions.For example, what do you think about these pictures? Then i will tell them my guessing about the future society around me. Then i will tell them in pairs talk with each others about what do you think happens in the future from your opinion.

pre-teach (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text

I will teach them the difficult words or actually two words by showing them the pictures and let them guess the definition or the picture.

reading task (5-7 minutes) • to set the context through reading task

I will tell them now you will read a text about someone called james and i want you while you are reading underline 6 predictions that james predect them for the future society. and i will tell them to check pairs.

Clarification (10-13 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

meaning: I will ask them to tell about james predections and what he use to talk about his predictions and I will ask them tell me how precentage james sure about these predections. then i will give them cline and some words they will use to make predictions and i will tell them try to guess the reorder of these words and write them on the cline. then they will check pairs and i will tell them leave it now and focus with me. i will write on the board 4 sentences and tell them read these sentences and tell me the defrences. then i will start to illustrate the deffrence between them . form: i will elicit from them the form - adverbs + will or may\ could or may \ could well or is\are likely to. pronunciation: i will tell them to repeat after me groups then individualy and elicit from them were is the stress. After that i will tell them to go back to the cline and check their guesses are correct or no and correct it. then i will put the answer key on the screen.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

they will answer ex 1a. they will put the correct predection to the sentence individually and i will model with them the first one. Then they will check pairs

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

the ss will stand in groups i will divid them and they will compare their opinoins and see in there is any thing common between them or no. and if i have extra time i will do ex2 they will write ten predections of your own and i will give them list of topics.
