Main Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for writing a letter to a friend or family member in the context of routine avtivities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of importance of writing letter to a friend or family member

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, SS will be brought to a conversation about how do they keep in touch with their friends and family members who live far away. I'll start about the way I wrote them letters in the past. Then they will discuss their experiences of writing letters to them.

Pre-teach essential lexis (2-3 minutes) • To provide Ss with the meaning of necessary new words

In this stage, SS will learn new words related to the topic. I'll show them some pictures and will help them to guess the words and the meanings

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

A sample letter will be shown to the SS, and they will discuss the content of the letter and will predict the type of letter and even the content.

Layout (5-6 minutes) • To provide an overview of production expected in coming tasks through writing

SS will be asked to grab their books and open page 104. They will read the different parts of an informal letter. They will discover the different parts and the way they have to form the letter. The first practice will be solved by their help and an overview of different parts of a letter will be given to them. They will do the task in pair work first. Then answers will be checked by class and T.

Focus on language (5-7 minutes) • To provide SS with leaning the rules and essential information

In this stage ,I'll bring them with some rules to write accurately. I'll explain The rules for writing the capital letters. I'll teach some phrases they can use. The common tenses they can use to write about the events will be explicated from the model text

Productive Task(s) (9-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In this stage SS will be asked to open their notebook and divide a page with different size, and they will start to write all part except the body. They will do it in pair work ,and T will secretly overlook what they are doing to get feedback. They will finish their letter at home

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

SS will be given some feedback on both the content and the language of their writing. They will correct any mistakes if they had , and bring them back to the class to get more feedback.
