Description

In this lesson, the student and the teacher will introduce themselves and the teacher will apply a mock exam to the student in order to see his/her strengths and weaknesses. The test will include all of its parts (Reading, writing, etc.), although the speaking part will be a little different due to the lack of a partner.

Main Aims

  • To test the students' knowledge of English and identify his/her weaknesses and strenghts.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T will do a little game with the S as an icebreaker. - The game consists of telling/writing 3 things about yourself, of which 1 will be false. - T will do it first to model it and then ask S to do it. - When S is done, T will go to the next part of the lesson. - T will ask S if he/she has any experience with certification exams or if he knows anything about them. - T will tell S that he/she will do a mock exam just to get him/her used to it.

Exam Practice (110-115 minutes) • To let the student get experience with a certification exam, as well as practice how to asnwer it.

- T will apply a mock exam to S - The exam will contain all of its parts (Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking). - T will share through Zoom a PDF of each part of the exam and ask S to write his/her answers on a Word document. - T will ask S to try to asnwer as best as they can and to not worry about the time in this case. - S will answer each part as best as they can. - Whenever S finishes a part of the exam, T will asks him to send it to him and, once that is done, he will provide the next one until all are finished. - For the Speaking part, which will be the last one, T will ask some of the questions usually seen in the exam. When the Speaking is done, T will show S a video of how the Speaking is usually done

Goodbye (1-2 minutes) • To say goodbye to the student and finish the class

- T will quickly ask S how he/she felt the exam - T will tell S that his/her results will be given to him/her next class - T will say goodbye to S and finish the lesson
