Description

in this lesson, learners learn how to speak to a server and pay for a meal when they are in the restaurant through guided discussion based on last task in the book. the lesson starts by show some picture related to restaurant and then ask a question that is: (what do you eat in restaurant?). this is followed by listening of books first task. After doing all tasks of book, learners discuss about topics that set in book.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of restaurant

  • To provide clarification of food words in the context of restaurants menu

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

For starting the lesson, teacher show some picture related to restaurant to ss and after ask a question that is: what do you eat in restaurants? . Ss have 3 minutes to think with their partners and then answer to this question. (answers of two group is enough for this step)

Exposure (10-13 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Teacher starts with the first task of lesson that is (BEFORE YOU LISTEN). its a listening and ss should listen it. teacher play this listening 2times. for first time ss just listen it and for next time, after each sentence, teacher pause the listening and ss should repeat the sentence. after that, there is another listening part that is(LISTENING COMPREHENSION ). this part, include 5 tasks, which ss should listen it and answer each 5 task. after answering, ss check each others answer and if some bodies answer wrong, his/her partner will explain him/her but if every one answers are right teacher will go on next stage

Useful Language (4-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

for part B, teacher put the ss in the different groups . they should be in 5 or 6 groups (depends on class members) that each groups include 2students. they should work on conversations in part B. one time one of them ask a question and the other one should answer, for next time they change their position. ( teacher monitor the ss).

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

this stage have 4 parts: - teacher teach 6 words, that maybe ss hear them for first time .(description of how teaching this part is in vocab analyze sheet). - there is a stage in page 45, (Speak to a server and pay for a meal) which every group should choice their meal and write their meal on board. - after that, ss go on work book on page 36 and answer the questions of part 12 in pairs and when they finish it, each group read one answer. - for last exercise, ss complete the last part of page 45, and after that each 2 student discuss that topic and teacher should monitor them. when all group done their discuss, one volunteer group can tell their discuss to all ss.
