Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of there is and there are in the context of listening text talking about house and furniture

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, detailed and inference listening practice using a text about houses and furniture in the context of listening text talking about house and furniture

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Displaying pictures of dream houses and elicit from the students through discussion questions in pairs in 2 minutes, e.g. "How many bedrooms are there?" Then have a open class feedback.

pre-teach (2-5 minutes) • To clarify the vocab that will help the learners to use the TL

First, pre-teach vocabulary activity by displaying pictures of rooms in a house then students will order the letters to make the words.

Exposure (2-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Then students will listen an audio asking them if they like to live in a house like this and why? then the teacher will elicit the MFP from the students through power point by highlighting the form on the board individually then groupwork.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the TL using MFP on the board by highlighting the meaning by asking CCQs and writing the form on the board and drilling chorally and individually

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

the learners will answer an exercise using the TL to apply and check there understanding

freer practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The learners will draw a model for there living room and they will show it to their partners describing the room and what is in the room

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with content feedback and language feedback

listen to some of the learners' and they said to their partners, and error correct some of there mistakes on the board
