To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of travel
To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about Recommendations for travelling in the context of traveling
Procedure (26-35 minutes)
Students will watch a video about Australia and then answer questions extracted from the video .
Listening Task –Simplify the task in (Ex3. (the idea of listening here is as a “model” for what they’re going to talk about.) They are going to listen to an audio about Marco his Australian friend is recommending some places for him in Australia to visit and then answer the questions
– Language input - Categorize “useful language” in strips according to function (recommending, describing, responding etc), - answer key Ss choose a place they’d like to talk about Give thinking/preparation time for ss to make notes about what they’re going to say Ss complete task They are going to hear to an audio again the answer the questions in their handouts then let them check their answers in pairs . I will start to ask CCQ's about recommendation phrases they can use while recommending a place or things to someone traveling.
In the freer practice of speaking task I'll ask them to design a tour similar to Elaine's by using also the phrases of recommendation .
