  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a give your opinion about the decision each person made in the context of career crossroads

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Teacher will display the PPT - The teacher will ask the students to think of the word Crossroads, how do they feel when they think about it? what does it mean for them? - Teacher will ask the learners to answer the following questions: (as a class or in pairs if there is enough time then share their different answers as a class) Is it easy to get a job in your country at the moment? How do you find a job?

Pre-Reading/Listening (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher will as the students to 1- look at the pictures of 3 people: Gavin, Delmar, and Molly. 2- Listen to a radio program and answer the following questions: a- what is each person’s chosen career? b- are they working on it at the moment? 4- as a whole class.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher will ask the students to: 1- read the questions in the SB (activity 3a- page 51) 2- listen again and decide if the questions describe Gavin, Molly or Dlmar. 3- SS share their answers as pairs(for saving time during the TP, the teacher displays the Model answer).

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The teacher will ask students to : 1- add details to the answer to each question. 2- listen again and check their answers(if needed). 3- in pairs, share the details together. 4- teacher will display the answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher will the students to work in pairs and discuss the following questions: 1- Do you think Gavin, Molly, and Delmar have made good choices? 2- Have you or your friends done the things that they mentioned? If so, what happened? Teacher will listen to students and take notes for fluency and accuracy errors and mistakes.
