Reading(English: The Language of Business)
To provide gist reading practice using a text about The Language of Business in the context of big companies around the world
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation and discussion in the context of jobs and languages
Procedure (19-29 minutes)
I'll start with asking a question about online jobs and SS will try to talk about what they know about them. Then I'll go through another question and will show them a picture of some big companies names.I'll ask them if they like working online for those companies and ask them which language do they need to learn if they want to apply for their online jobs.
In this stage I'll show them some pictures which can help them to guess the new words and understand the meaning of them.(CEO, headquarter, all over the world, multinational, meeting,document, manager)
After teaching some words which is related to big companies in previous stage to set a gist task I'll ask them which language is their business language .
Ss will be asked to open their books and read practice (a) and try to guess the answers in GW.Then they will have 2 minutes to read the text quickly ,They will check the answers in pairs then with the teacher.
They will take a quick look at next practice to scan for specific information or reading intensively for detailed comprehension . They will have 1 minute to read through the questions before they start reading the text again.(I'll skip this part in demo.)
Ss will have enough time to go through an intensive reading .Everyone do it individually and will ask them to not disturb each other.(In demo I'll give them 2 minutes.) Ss will answer the questions individually after they finish reading. the Ss will check the answers in pairs and will be monitored by the teacher.They justify the answers with reference to the text.We'll have 3 minutes to cover this part.
Ss will discuss the importance of learning English and its effect on their future carrier.Other relative topics may be involved
I'll ask Ss to write about their dream jobs and try to use new vocabularies and find new vocab if they need.
