Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of special occasions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a language that we need in different day-to-day situations in the context of asking questions for special occasions


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Showing ss a ppt with special occasions to get them engaged and start making them talk to each other about it

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

showing of the events to try eliciting the words from the students T starts saying the words to ss to assure the good pronunciation drilling the words in class then in groups and finally making them ask each other about it .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask s to share with each other special occasion they have and how they asked about it

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Drilling the target language and by making s listen to the audio and answer the questions in the task (8) page 29

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

making s listen to the task they solved (9) page 29 and practice the sentence .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

making SS fill in the correct answers to the question (11) and start by answering individually and then checking in pairs to make the lead in for the free practice .

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

make ss work in groups and create a conversation between Sophie and Marcus to buy lousie a birthday present. ss share their conversation together by changing group members .
