In this lesson the students will learn about past perfect and the situation of using it

Abc story sheet
Abc board

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of past perfect in the context of past and earlier past actions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a accident or something memorable that happened before new years eve by using past perfect grammar

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I personalize the situation and talk about the weather for them for example : yesterday when I woke up the yard was white with snow .It had snowed during the night . How about your city how is the weather there ?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I give them a story which the grammar and main part of lesson is included in it .The contest of story is mostly about buying a car in past ,then I ask them some ccq about the story which they have read.

Clarification (7-9 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I start to talk about situation of using this grammar and the structure of past perfect and making sentences by it .I will explain the place of each part of speech then negative and question form of past perfect . I will use there help to participate in the class more and make some sentences.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

We will refer to grammar bank of American English file book and will do some matching exercises in the class than we will check them together .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

They will use their book and do the grammar bank(It is filling the blank practice ) in pairs then I will check all their answers .

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I provide a situation for them to talk freely about a memory or special situation which has happened before new year and let them try to use new grammar if it's possible for them .
