In this lesson, students will learn one of the strategies of listening which is called ''note-taking''. The students will be able to take effective note and then they will be guided to analyze and synthesize their notes and the original listening text. They will create their justification why this is an effective or not.

Warmer/Lead-in (4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher talks about a podcast, and asks Sts whether they listen to podcasts. The teacher asks some questions about the topic to activate their schemata and let them comment each other's ideas.

Pre-Listening (5 minutes) • To teach the target vocabulary.

The Teacher asks sts to match the words with their definitions. When the activity finishes, sts do the pair check. Then, the teacher checks their answers.

While-Listening #1 (9 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

The teacher hands out the documents, gives instructions and asks icq and the students read the true-false statement and underline the key words for gist activity. Then the sts listen to the podcast to do the activity. When the podcast ends, the sts do the pair check and then teacher checks their answers. ICQs: What will you do? (Listen to…) While listening, you will place …..? T or F If statement is false, you will …..? Correct.

While-Listening #2 (20 minutes) • To help learners focus on key points and key words with the help of a template.

The teacher elicits note-taking strategies from the sts if there is any and writes them on the board. Then the teacher teaches the missing note taking strategies while listening to a text. The teacher asks ccqs about note-taking. Then, The teacher gives the handouts to practice the strategies and gives instructions about the activity. The sts listen to the podcast twice and start taking notes. After they listen to the text, they turn the page over and answer the questions according to their notes. The teacher asks sts to do pair check and then the teacher checks the answers and gives feedback. The teacher wraps up the strategy so that the sts can reflect what they have learned through the questions CCQs: What have we learned? Note taking strategy. Which skill is it for? Listening To look for what? Detailed specific info What do we need to take note? Main ideas, key words, questions, drawings. ICQs: What will you do? Listen to the podcast again While listening, what will you do? Take notes Will you see the questions? No How many times will you listen to the podcast? 2 times After the listening, what will you do? Answer the questions with the help of notes.

Post-Listening (7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned and speak about and create their own opinion gap activity.

The teacher asks sts to write critical response to the whole podcast in what way the sts agree and sts do not agree by explaining the reason why on padlet. Then the sts can read and comment on each other's work.
