Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks Ss to watch to a song called " Kamanana" starting from 00:46 and asks: Q1: What is Henedy talking about here? - his goals /targets / ambitions Q2: What does he wants to get? - ,money - a car - a wife/girlfriend https://youtu.be/xEOfR_hnZYA T asks Ss to share in pairs 2-3 goals/ things they want to achieve and why. T selects some Ss and asks them to share if they have any common goal. (Or) T selects a couple of Ss and asks them to share something about their partners. T elicits from Ss the difference between goals/ambitions and dreams Q: Which one do you want but work on to get? - a goal Q: Which one is something you only desire? - a dream

Test #1 (6-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T tells the ss are going to take phrases about ambitions T asks Ss to match the verbs from column (A) with the words in column (B) in act. (2) Page 5 T hands the Ss extra sheet of the same activity with extra suitable verb phrases as mentioned in the LA to help them in later in the freer practice T asks Ss to check in pair then with the whole class.

Teach (12-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T elicits from Ss the meaning of few words through gestures or pictures. T elicits different synonyms of the verbs or the words in the verbs phrases ex: What other similar verbs can come with " money/ 1 million "? - make T highlights the phrases that are different in the American English ex: Go round / Go around T elicits extra words that can be paired with the given verbs ex: get married / engaged / divorced T drills the phrases chorally, individually or in groups T writes the phrases on the board and elicit the form

Test #2 (6-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T asks Ss to put all the given verb phrases into 3 categories in act. (3a) P.5 instructions: 1-Write next to the phrases in act. 2 (A, B, or C) 2- (A) means most people achieve ( B) means few people achieve (C) difficult to achieve ICQ: Are you going to write the phrases or ( A/B or C)? - A/B/ C Are your going to write them in act. 2 or 3 ? - 2 T asks Ss to compare their answers in pair and to tick the common answers T listens to some of the students' answers.

Free practice (10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks Ss to share their 2 of future life and career goals for the new year and discuss in pair how they can achieve them. T tell the Ss that they should cover the following points: - what your life / career goal is - why you want to achieve it - when can you start or successfully achieve it - Who supports you or can help - How to achieve it (steps) ICQ: Are you going to only mention the goal or give details? will you only say your future steps ? should you listen first from your partner?

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To praise good use of TL and to correct errors in TL use

T Asks Ss to share some of fruitful advice they got from their partners T praises their good use of language T corrects the most common errors on the board
