In this lesson the students are going to learn the names of some sea creatures.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Which animals live in the sea in the context of sea animals that the students like

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Which animals live in the sea in the context of Different kinds of animals

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask my students about their favorite animals. I will write the names of the animals that they say on the board.

Test #1 (4-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will ask my students to put the names of the animals on the correct place that they live. Some of the words may be new to them.

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will let them know the new words and tell them what they are by showing them the pictures of those animals. I will stick some pictures on the board to help them learn where the animals live.

Test #2 (3-4 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

I will give them pictures of some animals and the places they live. I will play a recording and they are supposed to put the animal that they hear the name on the correct place where they live.

Free practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to draw their favorite animals in the place where they live and then they can stick them on the wall and tell their friends about their painting.
