Main Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for expressing likes and dislikes in the context of favorite things to do in life.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion of expressing likes and dislikes.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shares screen (ppt) with images and display the lead in question: What are my favorite things to do? - T sends to breakout rooms to rank their favorite things to do and discuss the question in pairs. - T conducts OCFB, elicit responses and records on the whiteboard.

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

-T shares screen and display ppt slide. - T explains to students they will be reading a text where they see in red some expressions then students should fill in the spaces with the correct name of the person from the text. - T sends the students to BoRs to pair check. - T conducts OCFB, displaying ppt slide with answers.

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language.

-T shares screen and displays ppt slides with phrases. -T conducts OCFB to cover MFPA, eliciting answers from Ss. Phrases: - I really love... CCQ: Is it a possitive expression? (Yes) CCQ: Does it express a 100% preference? (Yes) CCQ: What form of the verb comes after the word love? ( ing verb) -I´m really into... CCQ: Is it a possitive expression? (Yes) CCQ: Does it express a 100% preference? (Yes) CCQ:What form of the verb comes after the word love? ( ing verb) -I prefer... CCQ: Is it a possitive expression? Controlled practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice.

-T shares screen displaying ppt slides. -T asks students to complete the sentences with the phrases and pictures provided. -Ss work in BoRs to complete sentences. -T conducts OCFB, displaying ppt slides with answers.

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

-T shares screen displaying ppt slides. -T explains to Ss will interact among each other by asking some questions about their personal likes and dislikes using possitive and negative replies. T share an example. - Ss work in BoRs to share and respond. - T conducts OCFB and elicits examples from Ss.

Feedback and Error Correction (7-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-T displays the whiteboard with examples of correct and incorrect language use. -T conducts OCFB and reviews Ss language use, eliciting from Ss which examples need to be corrected and how to correct them. -T reviews pronunciation erros and elicits correct pronunciation from Ss. -T praises correct language use examples.
