Main Aims

  • To provide practice of accidents and injuries in the context of health issues

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about accidents and injuries in the context of health issues


Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show ss a pic of the first aid kit and elicit it. Then put ss in groups and ave them discuss ex.1. Next, open pair check the answers.

Test #1 (7-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ss match the words with the pics. Give ins. Demo with ss. Ten, ss check the answers together. Monitor to check the challenges the might have to tackle in the teaching part. Nominate ss to answer ( answer key)

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Elicit the words and for the easy ones, you can just ask ccqs to check their understanding and highlight the pronunciation and the form. (MPF).

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ex.3a In groups, ss should speak about what they should do in the accidents. Give ins. + icqs After they finish, have them listen to the audio to check their answers.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ex. 4 Ss in pairs or groups, ss speak about accidents or injuries they have had. Monitor to get the language feedback. After they finish; do the content feedback, praise their answers and the language feedback.
