this lesson is about simple present and my students will learn negative and question form of simple present

Main Aims

  • to teach students simple present negative and question form ,wh question ,like and don't like

Subsidiary Aims

  • to know how to ask about daily routine ,how to use wh questions and make simple sentences with like +verb ing


Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • review the grammar poin they know in order to lead them towards new information

show them the pictures of some sports they know ask them the name, if they play it , witch one is their favorite, etc.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text (examlpes)

after I let them know I play volleyball and write it on the board I will write one or two of their examples as well after reviewing the affirmative form I will try to elicit the negative form from students .CCQ I will give them wrong examples and let them correct it

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the negative and question form

I will write a yes/no question on the board . Then I will try to elicit the question form (does) by writing the subject between to gaps and ask them to complete them for the answers I will allow them to ask me one of the questions and I will answer it and write it on the board I will elicit the answer for (she/he/it) to see if they say do or does. I will connect the yes or no question to WH questions and tell them it's another way for us to make questions . I will only write the WH questions mentioned in the book and elicit the rest from them

Highlighting (1-3 minutes) • To highlight and remind the posible mistakes

I will write two wrong sentences on the board and ask two of the students (preferably the passive students ) to correct them .

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I have prepared worksheet I will allow them to complete it and we will read it one by one

exposure (4-6 minutes) • To clarify the the usage of verbs after like

I will elicit the words like and don't like by miming then give them an example with a noun and an example with a verb I will ask them to give me examples one by one write a wrong sentence with she/he on the board and let one or two student correct it. .

controlled practice (4-6 minutes) • to concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
