In this lesson, my students will learn about the inventions through the listening. They also will learn about the passive voice through the listening part.

Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of the passive voice in the context of Inventions

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The lesson will start by some questions to prepare the students for our listening and get their attention. The question is " why do we have mothers of inventions?" ask them to choose the photos which are invented by women. then, I will write the meaning of blocking words on a board. then play the audio file once and I will also ask them about what they were talking about.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage, I will give them 2 minutes to read the sentences then I will play the listening for second time and ask them to do part b and c.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, I will write the passive sentence and underline the words (was/were + pp). then compare it with the active form of that sentence.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage, we talk about the situation that we use passive, and we talk about the negative, positive and question form of it.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage, I will ask them to do part a on page 146 and also CCQ. then we will check the answers together.

Free Practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage, I will ask them to make a sentence in active voice and their classmate should change it into the passive voice. I will write the sentences on the board.
