Main Aims

  • To provide product and process writing practice of a essay in the context of for and against.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of language used for essay about pollution in the context of for and against.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows Ss 3 pictures and ask 2 questions: 1) What do you think is happening in each picture? 2) When do people agree and when do they disagree?

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T asks Ss to read the writing essay about (Telephoning is a better way to communicate than letters nowadays. Discuss) T asks Ss to focus on the phrases highlighted in green color. T asks Ss two questions: Is the language used formal or informal? How many paragraphs can you see in the writing topic?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks
