Main Aims

  • To practice the meaning, pronunciation and form of present continuous for future.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice speaking using present continuous for future tense.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

-Show ss some pictures of some special days here in Egypt. -Ask them what can they see in the pictures. -show the ss some questions and ask them to mingle and ask each other those questions.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation.

Chest activity 1. -Demonstrate the activity to the ss by showing them that they're going to fill the gaps with the verbs in the box. -ss are going to work alone first then in pairs. -Show the ss the answer key.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, pronunciation and form of the target language.

-Elicit the marker sentence from the activity. Say the sentence: ''I am having a party on New year's Eve. I've invited loads of people.'' Ask CCQS: -Is it in the in the past, present or the future? future. -Did I arrange everything for the party? yes. -Did I invite people? yes. -Drill the sentence: -Say ''On New Year's Eve''. Have them repeat. -Say'' I am having a party''. Have them repeat. Use finger highlighting and backchaining. -Elicit the form from the ss. -Is it a subject or a verb? subject. -Point at verb to be and elicit verb to be. -Is it a verb in infinitive or with ing? ing. -Ask ss Is it a positive or negative sentence? Positive. -How can I make it negative? add ''Not''.

Controlled Practice. (3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare ss for more meaningful practice.

Chest activity 2. -Show ss that they're going to complete the questions with the verbs in the box. ICCQS. -will you work alone or in pairs? alone. - can I use just one verb with more than a question? yes. -Ask them to check their answers together.

Freer practice. (7-10 minutes) • To provide ss with free practice of the target language.

-Ask ss to think in two mins of a plan for any day they choose from those special days. -Ask them to stand up and mingle and share their plan with at least two people and know theirs and tell me who has the most interesting plan.
