Teaching Practice 1b
To give students exposure and practice of the Present Continuous Tense
To provide practice of reading for gist and specific information.
To introduce and practice lexical phrases with "place".
Procedure (35-48 minutes)
First I will Introduce myself and then I will ask them to introduce themselves.
First I will introduce the idea of CCTV camera and explain the meanings of some new words we are going to use later. Then the students will read the text about CCTV cameras on page 12. After reading the text, they will discuss in pairs three questions from the exercise 1 on the page 12. After this activity I'll ask them to do a matching activity.
First I'll explain the meaning of some new words they can see while doing the exercise 2 on the page 12. To complete this exercise the students need to read "Readers' response" text on the page 13. Then we will discuss the correct answer together.
First they will read "Readers' response" text again and then do the exercises 3 and 4 on the page 12 in pairs. After they will finish the activity we will elicit as a whole group.
First I will ask them if they remember the meanings of lexical phrases with "place" from the "Readers' response" text they just read. I will ask them to work in pairs and read the text on the bottom of the page 12 (Extend you vocabulary) and work individually to do the matching activity. After the activities we will check the answers together.
I will ask students to read some grammar rules on the page 13. After that I will ask them if they can explain how we form the Present Continuous Time, when we suppose to use this time. After that I'll explain how to make negative and question form of the Present Continuous Time writing examples on the WB. Then I will ask them to do exercise 1 on the page 13 and the execise 5 on the page 133. After the exercises we will discuss these exercises all together.
I'll play 5 sentences twice and ask them to write them down. After the activity we will check them as a whole class.
I will ask them to do exercises 2 and 3 on the page 13. We will discuss the tasks together.
