Materials

Abc Global coursebook

Main Aims

  • To provide exposure and practice of lexis related to physical descriptions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of listening for gist and specific detail

Procedure

Ece 10 Sept 2014 (7-10 minutes) • To introduce the subject and generate interest in physical descriptions.

Lead In: I start with using myself as a model to elicit physical characteristics and show them the pictures of some singers. I ask the students to describe them physically.

Ece 10 Sept 2014 (5-6 minutes) • To make meaning clear by showing word groups

By using the words provided by the coursebook, I will ask the students to add new adjectives to their descriptions of the singers in subject. I ask sts to tell me which words they can add to their descriptions.

Ece 10 Sept 2014 (10-15 minutes) • To give the sts a chance to enhance their understanding of the TL

They listen to pick the right pictures given on the coursebook according to the descriptions in the listening task. Then they listen again to answer the questions on pg:8 exercise 2. Then we will check their answers and listen again if it is necessary.

Ece 10 Sept 2014 (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning difference between 'look and look like.'

I give some examples of 'look and look like' forms of the sentences to clarify the meaning difference between them. Then I ask them to work in pairs and look at their classmates and ask them some similar questions by using both of the forms. Then thank them for their participation in the lesson and finish the class.
