Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a story in the context of telling story about a situation that happened to you.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing notes in the context of telling a story.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Think of a short story to tell your friends (It could be a lie). 2. Take turns telling the story. 3. Guess if your friend's story is true or false.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Read the situations in 7A. 2. Read the head of the question. 3. Take a minute and imagine/visualize the situation.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. Read the questions in 7B. 2. Read the head of question 7B. 3. Get back to exercise 4 and use some of the sequencers. 4. Start thinking about the details of your story. 5. Write some notes, and share them with your teacher.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Read question 7C very well. 2. Start taking turns telling your story. 3. Ask questions to determine whether it's true or a lie. 4. Tell your friends if it's true or false.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

At this stage, the teacher will provide feedback mainly on fluency.
