Description

In this lesson Ss will review the Present Simple Positive, they will practise on how to make negative sentences and questions with the Simple Present. They will also practise rising and falling intonation of the question forms. Finally, they will practise a conversation between their partners on their daily routines and things they do or don't.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in / Pre-teach grammar (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students, to prepare Ss for the target language.

Greeting, Ask Ss to have a look on the screen for 10 sec. and let them talk with their partners then start to elicit information about the picture and talk altogether. Who are they? What do they do? Are they happy or sad? They do something they love, or not? Elicit the context and start to ask to compare to their own habits and work in groups ex. Do you like go shopping? Do you like to go every day? Ss start to say the sentences in both positive and negative. Then, talk altogether about the picture and elicit the target language and the form.

Exposure to target language / Highlighting of Form (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a picture on the screen where they will notice the context. To draw students' attention to the target language, to provide context for the target language, Ss will notice the language of Do you...? No, I don't, to clarify the meaning.

Elicit from the Ss to ask questions about the picture, ex: What do they do? Do they go shopping? Do they love to go..............? Do they always go...........? Do you like to go shopping in your free time? Concept check by asking students to talk about themselves if they do or don't. Drill the question form and the negative form focusing on the rise and fall intonation and focusing on the rising for the Yes / No questions. Highlighting parts from the speech and elicit the form from the Ss. monitor to check their intonation rise/fall. Write the form on the board to show them after eliciting the MPF.

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Demonstrate the task and drill carefully, ask Ss to work in pairs to answer the handouts. Ask Ss to work in individually and then check their answers with their partners. Start to play the game of dice and let them speak up and answer according to the sentence.

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Demonstrate this task very carefully Stick papers on the board with many different topics and ask students to choose one and then give them sticky notes, write on them on sentence according to the topic they're going to choose and stick on the back of their partners then ask them to walk around and talk with each other if they do the same or not in their free time ex. I play basketball, too. or I don't play basketball.

Feedback (5-10 minutes) • To improve the Ss awareness and provide the correction for the mistakes

Ask Ss to check in pairs or group according to the exercise. Show the Ss the correction on the screen through the Power point, ask Ss to check if they have any mistakes. Ask Ss to ask if they have something misunderstood.
