Description

In this lesson, students will work on their writing skills along with a reading support. They will be given diverse activities involving physical movement to wake them up but there should be a logical link between them. The context will be set by teacher eliciting 'a restaurant review'. Then vocabulary will be provided for coming reading task.Addition to that SS will have matching with cut-ups.SS reads the reviews alone and answers the questions for each questions.In stage five, SS will be provided an opportunity to practice target productive skills by writing a review.In the final stage, SS checks each others papers and do some correction and finally T gives delayed feedback.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of an article in the context of world food- a restaurant review by doing reading activity related to the topic in advance

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about a restaurant review in the context of world food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in(Stage 1) (3-4 minutes) • to set the lesson context and engage SS

-Elicit 'a restaurant review' by using a visuals(video). -Ask some CCQ if necessary. -was the video about a restaurant? -was it being reviewed?

Useful Language(Stage 2) (3-4 minutes) • to provide vocabulary expected in the coming reading task

-In this stage, SS will be taught new vocabulary by the use of powerpoint visuals. -SS will be shown a powerpoint visuals;(Go through the stages of ECDW to teach) -(curry(N),decor(N),snack(N),cozy(Adj),feast(N)) -SS will try to guess what the pictures are about. -T ask some CCQ to check their understanding of the use or meaning of the Target Vocabulary. -T drills the words. -T also writes word stress and part of speech

Exposure#1 (Stage 3) (4-5 minutes) • to provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

-T gives instructions -T asks SS to match the headings with the questions 1-5 to complete the guide to writing a restaurant review; Match the headings with questions 1-5 a) Information about the price b) Information about the menu c) Details of the restaurant d) Information about the service e) Information about the atmosphere 1 ____________: Where is it? How can you contact them? How do you get there? What are the opening hours? 2 ____________: What’s the decor like? Is it child-friendly? Is it noisy? Is it romantic? 3 ____________: What kind of food does it serve? Are there any specialities? Do they serve vegetarian food? Are there any particular dishes you recommended? 4 ____________: Are the staff friendly? Do you have to wait a long time? 5 ____________: Is it good value for money? How much does it cost per person? Are there any special offers? -T gives SS a cut-ups to do the task. -SS does the activity in pairs. -SS compares their answers in pairs -AK is sticked on the walls of the class.Tell SS get up and check their answers. -T monitors

Productive Task(Stage 5) (15-20 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-T asks SS to write a similar paragraph on their favourite restaurant,cafe or bar. -T gives clear instructions - SS should focus on these details given below; a) Information about the price b) Information about the menu c) Details of the restaurant d) Information about the service e) Information about the atmosphere -T asks SS some ICQ's for better understanding -Give SS 10-15 min -During their writing, T monitor them and take some notes of errors for error correction.

Skill and language feedback(Stage 6) (3-4 minutes) • • To provide feedback on student's production and use of language

-T asks Ss to put their writings on the walls T tells the students to read and to the following tasks -Correct any mistakes in the writings. -Tell SS that there are boxes in the bottom of each pages, SS are supposed to give ratings for their friends writings, it ratings should be out of five. -Choose the best and worst restaurant depending on the ratings. -T gives Ss their writings and gives delayed feedback and do error correction.
