Clarification • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Grammar Causative get and have You can use get and have to talk about asking other people to do things for you. When you want to show who you ask, you can use get+ someone + to + verb or have + someone + verb. I get my brother to fix my car.= I asked my brother to fix my car. We'll get my sister to choose colors for our house.= we asked my sister colors of our house. My hair looked bad, so I had a hairdresser cut it again. I asked the hair dresser to cut my hair again. I didn't pay to have someone repair my dishwasher. When who you ask is not important, use get or have + something + past participle. I get my car fixed at my uncle's garage. I always get my hair cut professionally. We're having a new house built now. It cost a lot to have the water damage repaired Understand the grammar Have Ss look at the chart. we use have and get when we say that we didn't do something ourselves there is someone did that and we mention the person. get+ person + to+ verb (to- infinitive) I get my brother to fix- my car. have+ person+ verb (infinitive without to) I didn't pay to have someone repair my dishwasher. And when we don't the person who does the job for us we use get I have + object + past participle I always get my hair cut professionally. We're having a new house built. In conversation It is more common to say the name of the person who did the job for us than not to say the name. Common errors when we use the causative verb "have", we use the verb in infinitive without (to) when we use the causative verb "get", we use the verb in infinitive with (to). CCQs Do I use causative verbs to talk about jobs we do ourselves or other people do them for us? other people do them for use When you want to show who you ask, you can use verb in infinitive or in past participle? infinitive What are the common errors ? when we use the causative verb "have", we use the verb in infinitive without (to) when we use the causative verb "get", we use the verb in infinitive with (to).

Call on Ss to read the causatives they found individually, in 10 minutes ICQs: How much time do you have? 10 minutes Are you going to work individually or in pairs? individually Are you going to answer from the interviews or from your mind? The interviews 1-Min-sook:- I had a hairdresser cut it again. I always get it cut ... I get a friend to cut my bangs occasionally. 2-Marcus: ... I get my brother to fix most things ...I have my uncle take a look at it ... I can get it fixed there ... I also have it serviced there. 3-Martin and Jill:- we'll have her choose the colors and get her to pick out curtains. 4-Bella: I didn't want to pay to have someone come and repair it to have the water damage repaired.
