In this lesson students will learn how to write a card

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide and process writing practice of a a postcard in the context of travelling

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of holiday words in the context of travelling

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To present students different kids of cards Discuss when we write cards and what kinds of cards Ss know T shows different types of cards Ss discuss occasions they may get one.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T displays a few different postcards with different texts. Ss need to read these postcards and discuss what parts these postcards include. T demos first.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T covers MFPA of the useful language for students to successfully write their own postcard

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss write their own postcards using template provided by the Teacher Ss use Padlet Ss present their postcards in BR Ss share their opinion and comment each other's cards

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Identify and correct mistakes in Breakout rooms Final discussion
