Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of places' names in a neighborhood.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversational role-play in the context of Neighborhood places

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show them some places in a neighborhood and ask them "what do you need to find in a neighborhood?" and then write their answers on the board.

Test #1 (5-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will give them HO1 and ask them to do the parts. It involves three parts: ○words I know ○words I think I know but not totally sure ○words I don't know

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will teach them the words by using different techniques.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

First I will group them by giving names to them (bank, park). Then I will give them HO2 and ask them to do two or three controlled or semi-controlled practice. At the end we will check the answers together.

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will play them a conversation and then I will give them HO3. Then I will group them by giving names to them (a,b) and ask them to play the role-play.
