Description

In this lesson the students will learn about shopping vocabulary.

Materials

Abc Flash Cards
Abc picture

Main Aims

  • To be able to provide vocabulary words about shopping.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide an atmosphere where students can practice the new target language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows a picture of a department store, ask sts to name the things that they know. In pairs, T let sts check if thay have similar answer with friends and to conclude T gives a quick WC feedback.

Exposure (12-15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening and drilling.

T stick the TL on the WB one by one, let sts assess it for a couple of minutes, then ask are there words common or can be found in both lists? T elicits and circle the words that the sts mention. T shows the FC one at each time and let sts guess what do they think it is? T will give the meaning, form and pronunciation until all FC are shown then drill. After drilling, T will divide the class into tw, demo the word and let sts guess what it is. The 1st who can guess the correct answer will gain the points for their group.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T will give guide questions for sts before narrating her experienced. This questions will give sts a purpose and will guide sts in skimming for gist. After that T will now narrate her story to the WC. When finished T will ask sts the answers of the guide questions.

Productive Task(s) (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will divide the class into groups again and let each group think on how to start a dialogue for a couple of minutes, T elicits and writes the decided dialogue in the WB. Then drill.
