Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introducing the learning hub and the theme of the first term magazine. playing barney's family song and jump each time barney says family.

Pre teach vocabulary (15 minutes) • To set lesson Context and engage students

To provide clarification of aunt, brother, cousin, dad, grandma, granddad, mum, nephew, niece, sister, uncle. Ask The students to listen and repeat as you say the words. flash card game

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Informing the students that Peter and Min Sung are friends. Tell students that they will hear the two boys talking about different people in their families.

Useful Language (15 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

CCQs + Pictures from the magazine : clever, creative, friendly, funny, helpful, honest, interesting, kind, polite. Students will look at the people in the pictures taken from the magazine as the teacher elicit the personality words to students. Ask students, What’s he/she doing? Why? (She’s giving her seat to another person). What type of person is she? Is she funny? No. Is she interesting? No. Is she kind? Yes. Is she friendly? Yes. What’s she like? She is kind and friendly.

Productive Task(s) (30 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Display the pictures of family trees. Write ‘family tree’ on the board. Students look atthem and identify who they can see and what they think the pictures show. . Who is in Peter'sfamily? Complete the family tree. Draw a familytree. Tell yourclassmates about the people in it.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students will have a conversation describing their family members the teacher will take notes if there are pronunciation mistakes and have delayed error correction.
