Abc Matching questions and answers HO

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of to use like, love, don't like and hate with verb + ing

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about good times , bad times some have on a day
  • To provide clarification of like + verb-ing in the context of we're going to talk about what do they like to do?

Procedure

Lead-in (10-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I would say to them so they had good times and bad times. they will say that yeah we had and the Q is ok so what was that? when was that? to be ready for the reading part

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll tell them so now we want to read about some who had good times and bad times and what's special about the second Friday in July and the third Monday in January? so they will read the first paragraph of the reading and answer that Q.

While-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading

After that, I'll show them part B we have some months, days, and times in the box and we want to match them to the reading part. and then check them all together but in this part, after they read months we will check that in pairs.

While-Reading (14-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading

do the other parts as same as the first one and be sure to do they have any problem with vocab or not. but in my opinion, they don't have any problems with vocab in the reading part.

Post-Reading (15-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

at the end of the reading I'll ask them to find some sentences about (I like, I don't like, I hate....) then write them on the board then we will talk to them about when we use like, hate, love. etc. with verbs, we put -ing after the verbs to say that we love, like ... to ding that action. at least I want them to talk about what things they like to do.
