Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 1 with image and Lead-In question - Question: Are you an extrovert or an introvert? Why? - T sends Ss to breakout rooms for 3 minutes to discuss question - T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 2 - T conducts OCFB, elicits responses and records on Jamboard page

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 3 with gist question. Question: "You are going to read an article called 'The Power of the Introvert' What do you think the article will say about introverts?" - T elicits ideas from Ss and records them on Jamboard slide - T tells Ss that they have three minutes to read and check their predictions - T displays Jamboard slide 4 and Ss read article for 3 minutes - T displays Jamboard slide 3 and elicits answers to gist question, records them on the slide

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 5 with adjectives taken from the text in the right column and endings and antecedents to create comparative adjectives in the left column. - T shares link to Jamboard in chat and asks students to open link and go to slide 5 - T asks Ss to match the right column with the additions on the left column to create comparative adjectives - Ss complete matching task as a whole class - T conducts OCFB and checks answers with Ss

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 6 with MFPA - T conducts OCFB and elicits MFPA from Ss CCQs: Does it mean more or less? (more) Is it an adjective or a comparative adjective? (comparative adjective)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 7 with task - T explains that students will work in BoR to complete the sentences using the comparative form of the adjectives - T gives demo of the first sentence - T sends Ss to BoR for 4 minutes to complete task - T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 8 with answers, conducts OCFB

Free Practice (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 9 with freer practice prompt - T asks Ss to think about their family members, consider the questions, and discuss in groups. Questions: 1. Are they introverts or extroverts? 2. Describe each person's main characteristics. 3. How do they compare to you? - T sends Ss to BoR for 8 minutes - T monitors BoR and makes note of correct and incorrect language use for DEC, recording examples in Jamboard slide 10 - T conducts OCFB, eliciting from Ss what they learned from their discussions

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

- T shares screen and displays Jamboard slide 10 with examples of correct and incorrect Ss language - T conducts OCFB eliciting corrections from Ss - T praises correct language use - T thanks Ss for participation and ends lesson
