Description

In this session, SS learn about how to make questions using present continues through a conversation & a reading. we have almost 3 hours but there are lot of things to cover. At first We start our session with a discussion so they can remember what we worked on last session and it is going to make their brain ready for our new lesson. then we have a conversation. after working on the new words and the conversation I'm gonna teach them Yes/No Q and Wh Q. Now is the time for some Controlled, Semi Practice. they are gonna have a break. after that we start our 2nd one hour and half. it starts with a reading then it follows by a writing part. for the wrap-up we are gonna watch some videos

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Daily Life
  • To provide clarification of language used for showing that someone is busy in the context of Daily Life
  • To provide clarification of Activities Words in the context of Daily Life

Procedure

Ice-Breaking (5-6 minutes) • To get to know each other well & This is an English Class by the way

Although we had a 3 hour class, we still need more time to get to know each other. This is Just our 2nd session. Besides, we have a new student in our class so everyone wants to know him of course. so I decided to allocate the first five minutes of the class for greeting and introduction. That must give everyone the energy that they want for the rest of the class.

Warmer/Lead-in (9-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

After a nice greeting they are completely ready for the class but still it's not a proper time to just jump into the new lesson. So we are gonna have discussion about the activities that they are doing these days. that would help the to encourage them to talk in English so they can remember what we worked on last session. This discussion is going to lead them to our new lesson of course

Exposure (23-25 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

in this part of our class SS are gonna have a conversation Part in the book. Before the Conversation Part, according to the book, there are almost 8 words that I need to Pre-teach them through MPF. Based on this conversation, they are using present continues which is the exact thing what I want. After using Look up & Speak technique, we will change the conversation & personalize it so they can use Present progressive in their own lives. we are gonna use the new words we learn in the class of course

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Now in this stage SS unknowingly will make some Qs using present Continues. Using "Find Someone Who" activity is the best activity for this stage. So they can ask each other some Qs. That will help them to use Present Continues even more in Qs & Answers

Clarification (7-9 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

According to many reliable studies MFP is the best way to teach the grammar. After using lots of Present Continues in all ways(+,-,?), now I'm just telling them the rules and I'm gonna write it on the board. After some repetition they will be ready for some Controlled Practice.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage I'm gonna provide SS with some Hand-outs. They have to do them individually. There is almost no way for the SS to answer in a wrong way in this part of our class, unless they wouldn't understand completely. So we will check all the answers together so, they can be sure that they are using the new grammar in a right way.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

According to Page 145 of the book We have some pictures. the SS can make some Qs and answers. So I will put them into 3 Groups of 2 members. Based on the pictures they can ask each other some Qs and answer them. that would help them to engage more in the Context & Grammar.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Last but not the Least, Actually maybe this part of our class is the most important part. because SS are gonna talk about their own lives based on the grammar & Context. So they are talking about activities that they are doing these days.
