Main Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T presents a picture of the people in the conversation and asks Ss questions about it. "Where is charlie in each photo?" "What do you think they are talking about in each picture?" Ss discuss in pairs, then they share their answers.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T Highlights that the two conversations have the same questions but in different ways. Ss match sentences with T as a whole class. T asks CCQS to highlight the formality and polite language used in the first conversation. "which questions are more polite, in conversation one or two?
