Description

In this lesson, the Ss will learn new language vocabulary and get the chance to practice it collaboratively in small groups.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of language vocabulary in the context of language.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Read the list of words on the right-hand side of your handout. 2. Highlight or mark the ones you don't know. 3. Read the ones you do not know again and try to understand the meaning yourself. 4. Compare the words you did not know with your classmate and figure out their meanings together. 5. Share the words you did not know with the teacher, and let's read them together!

Language Analysis (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

The teacher will explain the following: 1. Meaning ==> by eliciting and asking CCQs. 2. Form ==> the types of words. 3. Pronunciation==> individually and chorally drilling. Targeted Vocabulary: Mother tongue Learning strategies Foreign Native speakers Slang Fluency Accuracy Skill Bilingual

Task (5-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Read the questions in task 1A. 2. reread the questions and try to answer on your own. 3. In pairs, discuss your answers with a classmate. 4. Share your answers with the teacher.

Task 2 (5-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Read the question in number 2. 2. reread the questions, then try to answer independently. 3. Discuss the answers with your classmate. 4. Share the answers with your teacher.

Feedback (5-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

The teacher will provide the students with detailed feedback on fluency and accuracy.

Homework • To provide extra practice of the target language.
