The students are going to read a poem about My tree house. the focus is on the vocabulary.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of tools needed to build a house in the context of My tree house story

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about tools needed to build a house in the context of My tree house story

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

They are going to see a tree house picture and talk about different parts of it.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The students will see a picture of a toolbox. They will talk about the tools in it.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The students are going to skim the text to answer 2 questions. Then, they will read the story for deeper understanding to answer some comprehension questions afterward.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will circle the right answers at the bottom of page 12.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students will write 2 statements and their classmates have to tell which of them is true/false.
