Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about Young people in their 20s in the context of Lifesy

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Discussion in the context of People in their 20s

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

This lesson is about p people in their 20s. So I want students to think about some they know in their twenties. So I'm going to have the stars game that they have to draw a star and write on it. So I'm going to draw one talk about some I know in his twenties (name, age, relationship to me, job, interest and his ambitions) and ask the students to do the same.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'm going to pre-teach my students the vocabulary that blocks their understanding. So I should present some of them with pictures, situation and synonymous. Then ask them the to talk about thetopic "how does it feel to be in your 20s",and then ask them to read the reading task and prepare them for listening.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students are going to listen to the listening and do the first task which contains easier questions and they only have fill the gaps. Then they should check their answers together. I'm going to re play the listening if I feel they need to listen more than one time. FB would be a whole class activity.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students are going to read the more detailed questions for the second task. They are going to listen to the listening for the second time. This time questions are more detailed and they need to pay more attention after listening to the reading they should answer the questions individually and then they should check their answers in groups. I will nominate someone to check their understanding, and then I give them the tape script.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

After the listening students are going to discuss about 3 subjects related to the listening in groups. I may ask them to write about themselves and their experiences when they were in their twenties.
